In What Circumstances Should Be Replaced by Tapered Roller Bearings?

In order to determine whether tapered roller bearings can be used again, before making a decision, the degree of damage of tapered roller bearings, machine performance, importance, working conditions, inspection cycle, etc. must be considered.

As a result of the inspection, if any damage or abnormality is found in the tapered roller bearing, the cause must be identified and the countermeasures must be developed.

In addition, the inspection results show that if the following defects exist, tapered roller bearings cannot be used, and new tapered roller bearings need to be replaced.

Because tapered roller bearings are not products that have been used for a long time and have high damage frequency, they must be replaced once in a short time to avoid unnecessary losses.  But under what circumstances do you need to replace tapered roller bearings?

How do we tell if tapered roller bearings are available?

It is mainly determined by considering the degree of damage, mechanical properties, importance, working conditions and the time for the next maintenance of the tapered roller bearing.

If the following defects exist, they will not be used and must be replaced with new tapered roller bearings.

There are cracks or gaps in the inner ring, outer ring, rolling element and any part in the cage.

1.  Any of the annular and rolling elements has a break.

2.  There is obvious jam on the rolling surface, ribs and rolling elements.

3.  The cage is severely worn or the rivets are significantly loose.

4.  Rust and scratches on the raceway surface and rolling elements.

5.  There are severe dents and markings on the raceway surface and on the rolling elements.

6.  There is obvious creep on the inner diameter surface of the inner ring or the outer diameter surface of the outer ring.

7.  The discoloration caused by heat is obvious.

8.  For grease-filled tapered roller bearings, the seal ring or dust cover is significantly damaged.
